Experience

Repeatable, foundational assignments with rubrics that you can use tomorrow. I've been a high school English teacher for 25+ years. I've taught Yearbook, Journalism, Drama, and every level of English from English 9 Gen to AP Literature and AP Language. I think reading and writing are the two most fundamental, critical skills anyone can develop.

Teaching style

Students should work harder than their teachers. My lessons are designed to be rigorous for students, and easy for teachers. They're meant to be repetitive, designed to reinforce fundamental skills and practice, build to adapt to more or less challenging texts, depending on what your students need.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I've presented at CATE and Building Bridges; I've lead teams to teachers to align curriculum across subjects and grade levels. I've worked on summer teams to develop databases of lessons for all levels of English. I know how hard teachers work, and I want to make their lives easier.

My own education history

Graduate from UC Davis, where I also earned my single subject teaching credential. Got my MA in English during the Summer MA program at UC Irvine.

Additional biographical information

My most important jobs are husband and father. After that? Friend. Then English teacher, amateur chef, amateur woodworker, amateur race car driver, aspiring writer, and lover of books and rye whiskey.
