About the store
Hi! I'm Jessica Henry, the creator of Bloom Language Learning and Ninja Phonics. I’ve spent over a decade teaching ESL, Spanish and French to students from preschool through college, including CCP dual-credit courses and high school heritage programs. I hold a Master’s in Romance Languages: Spanish and French, and I’ve taught in public, private, and charter schools as well as community programs in both the U.S. and Mexico. Over the years, I’ve developed playful, story-based learning resources that help students not just memorize language, but truly internalize it. My curriculum is grounded in real classroom experience and inspired by the belief that every student deserves joyful, functional, and meaningful language learning.

Experience

Teaching style

My teaching style is interactive, story-rich, and rooted in meaningul learning. I use research-backed methods, a focus on high-frequency vocabulary, and engaging narratives to create lessons that make students feel successful right away. My materials often include: * Multisensory games and activities * Character-based storytelling * Scaffolded hands-on practice activities * Opportunities for laughter, play, and connection Whether you’re teaching a class of preschoolers or guiding adult learners, my goal is to make language learning feel like an adventure, not a chore.

Awards & shining teacher moments

* Commissioned by Vort Corporation to author curriculum correlations and lead the professional translation team for early intervention materials used in state-funded programs * Graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors from The Ohio State University (B.S. in Psychology with three minors) * Selected as a College Credit Plus Instructor for Spanish at the high school level, offering dual enrollment in partnership with local colleges and taught as an adjunct at the University of Findlay * Founded and led a free ESL volunteer program for immigrants and refugees in the Columbus community both as an undergraduate and working professional * Created multiple original language-learning programs, including Ninja Phonics, Bloom Language Learning and Bloom Junior, used successfully across diverse student populations (including ESL, special education, and gifted learners) * Consistently recognized by families and administrators for creating engaging, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environments

My own education history

* M.A. in Romance Languages (Spanish & French) – University of New Orleans * B.S. in Psychology with minors in Spanish, Women’s Studies, and African American & African Studies – Ohio State University (Summa Cum Laude with Honors) * A.A. in Computer Science – Southern New Hampshire University * Additional certifications program completed in Bilingual Education, Special Education, and Secondary Social Studies * Completed advanced fluency assessments in both Spanish (OPI Advanced Mid/High) and French (STAMP Advanced Low/High), and I’m continually expanding my knowledge through language revitalization research and curriculum development.

Additional biographical information

I’m a proud mother of four and currently live in Columbus, Ohio. I created Bloom Language Learning to share the resources that brought joy and success to my own students- and children (those poor guinea pigs who had to endure the first test of all my products)! One of my greatest hopes is to someday use these materials to support language revitalization and reclamation efforts, particularly in communities working to preserve and reclaim ancestral tongues. This mission is deeply personal to me, and it continues to guide the heart of everything I create.
