About the store
Hi friends! My name is Bonnie Schmidt, and I'm a General Music teacher for grades TK-6th. I have my Master's in Elementary Education and my Music Endorsement for TK-12. My first teaching experience was as a certified Music Together LLC teacher starting in 2007. I then began teaching at local preschools and eventually opened my own preschool, Little Rhythms Learning Center, which was open for almost a decade. When COVID hit, I decided to close my school and go get my Master's degree so I could teach in our public schools. I studied hard to get my Music Endorsement, and here I am!

Behavior Management Table for General Music Teachers

This tool is MAGIC! If you have a squirrely class of students who are struggling to be kind, quiet, and respectful, etc. OR you need to reset your class, then this tool is for you! Resize it to fit your needs. I use four to a page and then cut them apart. I teach 40-minute classes, so this works perfectly for that time frame, but you could modify as needed. Upon entering class QUIETLY and sitting down in their spot, students receive their star-chart paper. I pre-star the first star on my sheets

Teaching style

I am consistently seeking best practices and love to learn new things! I have made a deal with myself that if something isn't working with my students, I will pivot until I find what does. A lot of what is on my site was created from necessity. I am an avid supporter of clear communication with students and families. I created a lot of curriculum over the years when I owned my preschool, and many tools in my role as a music educator. I value process over product and love to create valuable and enriching learning experiences for all of my students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have been nominated twice for the Young Leader of the Year Award in my town for my work with children and families. I have also received an award from our local United Way to honor my work with the NEAR sciences (Neuroscience, Epigenetics, Adverse Childhood Experiences, and Resilience). I am a huge advocate for Trauma-Informed teaching practices and educating the community and beyond about how trauma impacts our students and how we, as teachers, can respond and nurture our students.

Additional biographical information

I am the proud mama of two amazing children and the wife of a middle school science teacher. I grew up in schools with my mom as an elementary school secretary. I am so blessed to be a teacher. I feel that we have a very important job on the planet, especially in these times. Students need our love and care now more than ever. I'm so happy to be offering quality resources to help you along your journey!
