Puzzle Strips: Solving One-Step Equations with Addition and Subtraction
This Puzzle Strip activity practices solving one-step equations using addition and subtraction. The activity prints in its solved format. To prepare: cut strips apart and shuffle for students to solve. To solve: Start with strip that says 'start.' Simplify the first expression, the answer is the number on the far left of the next strip.
For repeated use I cut strips apart and laminate, keeping each set in an envelope or individual container!

I am a licensed teacher who is deeply passionate about education and developing the whole student. In my free-time, I am fulfilling my desire to create and plan by making new products for my TPT store!
Teaching style
I strongly believe in 'Teaching Why'. I teach and reinforce concepts by asking students how they reach an answer and why the answer is appropriate. I like to incorporate hands-on activities into my plug and chug practice for students to use what they learn in real-world settings.
My own education history
I am licensed in Elementary Educations and Middle School Math, and have a Masters degree in Education Psychology.
Additional biographical information
I believe that mathematics, and more specifically, problem-solving, is the key to success in life! I strive to make learning and practicing math fun, creative, and relevant for my students. I also create interdisciplinary activities to help students use problem-solving skills in all areas of learning, and life.
