About the store

Experience

I am in my 6th year of teaching high school math. I have experience teaching in high-need schools, working with ELL students, math intervention, and gifted learners. I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Probability & Statistics, and Consumer Mathematics courses.

Teaching style

Relationships are at the center of my teaching - I work hard to develop positive rapport with my students each and every day! Student engagement is a must. Lessons are organized, broken up into digestible segments, and filled with humor and fun! I want students to be comfortable asking questions and confident in their ability to be successful. To help students become strong mathematicians, I incorporate elements of cross-curricular connections, rigor, collaboration, and inquiry in my curriculum and teaching.

Awards & shining teacher moments

None at this time.

My own education history

I earned a B.A. in Mathematics, Education, and Music from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN). I am currently working toward a M.S. in Education with a Mathematics Emphasis through Southwest Minnesota State University.

Additional biographical information

I am a Harry Potter nerd, so lots of mathemagic occurs in my classroom! Outside of teaching math, I am busy as a pianist playing for soloists, ensembles, churches, events, and as a soloist. I also enjoy being cooking, being active, hiking, being outdoors, and traveling.
