Get students engaged in writing with the Halloween spirit. Students will write an essay convincing their mayor to change the trick-or-treat active age limit. Assignment includes a rubric compatible with the Virginia Writing Standards of Learning, but the blank rubric can be modified to meet the needs of any K-8 classroom.
Students are encouraged to solve a real life problem -- bullying in school -- with their own campaign. This can be completed as a group or individual project. The project creates opportunity for student creativity and written expression.
Rubrics for each assignment are available for purchase.
