About the store
I have been teaching for 36 years, and have experience in all grades K-8. My tutoring experience is in grades 1-10. When it comes to homeschooling, I have taught my own children for a couple of grades, and have worked with many homeschool students through the years. Homeschool parents have hired me for training, curriculum planning, and end-of-year testing. As a PD trainer, I have conducted trainings for schools and districts on using games to teach. For 25 years I have been Nationally Board Certified, and mentored scores of beginning teachers, as well as NBPTS candidates. My coaching experience includes Reading, Math, Science and Curriculum Coach.

This product is a way to use the Florida Studies weekly newspaper as nightly homework. Each night the children practice a different reading skill while using that week's newspaper. The activities don't change, just the newspaper each week. It is a great way to reinforce informational text and practice writing skills too. It is also possible to do the activities in a Social Studies or an ELA center. Students and parents like the fact that they know exactly how to do the homework each night,

Powers Pong
This is a math center game that will help students practice M.5.NBT.A.1 (for FL teachers MAFS.5.NBT.1.1). This is a difficult skill to master and this game gives them plenty of practice. The materials are few and easy to gather. Powers Pong can be adapted to many other math skills once the children have the basic idea. It is a more active game that really keeps them engaged!
