About the store
Welcome to the Braintree Learning store! Braintree Learning develops robust math, science and computer science curriculum resources. Our goals are as follows: 1) Minimize teacher prep time by providing all necessary resources to teach a Unit/Lesson. 2) Design with proven curriculum design techniques. 3) Simple and easy to use in the classroom. 4) Customizable resources 5) Ensure students develop necessary skills 6) Keep the learning experience fun! Braintree Learning is the name of David Bocking's TPT store, named after Braintree, a town in England where his grandparents originate from . David is an experienced secondary teacher with a background in science, math and computer science. He has a master's degree in curriculum design from the University of Toronto. From his experience as a secondary teacher, David has found that preparation is a significant burden, especially for newer teachers. School boards and teacher education do not provide appropriate training for robust lessons. Textbooks (especially in science) often do not come with enough instructional material to teach a class, often missing answer keys, presentations, and tests. They also change often, and can vary by school. Teachers are also not able to distribute electronic copies to students, which makes transitioning to online learning difficult. All this forces teachers to have to frequently start over - and all this prep time often goes unpaid! Instead of teaching with textbooks, David teaches with open-source files, namely editable documents and presentations, that he can edit and copy as many times as necessary. A presentation is given at the beginning of the lesson, and then students can work on their assigned homework. All the homework has solutions for students to review (or you can remove them and take up homework in class). Of course, you should not teach lecture style every day, and frequently insert activities such as assignments or labs between lessons. Many of the units will come with activities that you can insert between lessons for more hands-on learning. I hope you enjoy browsing the store, and check back frequently as more resources become available!
