This is a GREAT way to teach, practice, and use map skills with a Disney map from Magic Kingdom. Students will use a Disney map to answer various questions such as what area has the most trees?, where are the flying carpets located?, what ride is located at E1? The back side includes a schedule the kids can make to map out the things they'd like to do. You may get maps by requesting them from Disney World or Disneyland (or when/if you visit). Disney World has always sent me the maps every time

This is an excellent way to document who brings what to school. It works great in the middle of the year when you need to request tissue, you can ask someone that didn't send it in earlier in the year. When a student moves, it also allows you to send them off with a fair amount of their supplies by dividing how many they brought and what fraction of the year they have spent with you. I keep all of my supplies together once I document it on this paper. There are also blanks if you would like to a

This product is a pattern to create a product that will help your students learn & remember the rule for the soft sounds of c and g. The soft sounds c and g sit n a SOFT cloud of cotton balls. I attached the letters I, e, and y with fishing string AFTER the c and g (hanging below). When c or g have an i, e or y after it, they will make their soft sound.

AR Formula This is to figure out how many more 100s a student needs on their AR tests in order to meet their AR goal. I often have students that have made so many low grades on their AR tests that they have dug themselves in a hole…..and NOW they (or their parents) want to know how to fix it. I teach Reading. I am not a math teacher. It took me HOURS to figure up a formula to help me know how many more 100s they needed quicker than I was doing. The original way I came up with is a little l

About the store

Experience

I have taught first grade for 5 years and I love it! Each year, I chose a new area within my classroom to FOCUS on improving. Each year, it becomes easier to be an outstanding teacher for my wonderful students.

Teaching style

I believe that hands on, making mistakes, succeeding & struggling, having fun, being a family, having a home away from home, CENTERS, breaks, and bribery (b/c we all know it takes a little extrinsic motivation to begin intrinsic motivation for most first graders) all contribute to an effective classroom environment that inspires engagement from all students which gives rise to learning.

My own education history

I have my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education K-8 & I am certified in Reading, Language Arts, Science, & Social Studies up to 12th grade. I recently received my Masters of Education in Gifted & Talented Education.

Additional biographical information

I have an 8 year old son that is the center of my universe! I do not have many TPT items because he is my number one! I can balance family and work pretty well, but I have not figured out how to add being a seller on TPT too. I admire teachers that are able to balance family, work, and TPT. I don't understand how they have time not only to create these AMAZING products for their classroom while teaching, but they have time to actually post them on teacherspayteachers.com AND blog about it.
