Flow of Energy (food chain/web) Rubric
This rubric will guide students to see all the organisms and their role in the food chain. They must also understand the sun's role and what a praire ecosystem is. Students will have to reflect on their learning in a paragraph.

FOOD CHAIN-INTERDEPENDENCY POWER POINT RUBRIC
Students use a rubric to break a food chain apart. The rubric will lead students to choose an organism, figure out what role it has, and what ecosystem it lives in. They will also have to put that organism into a food chain. Lastly, they will reflect on what they learned in a paragraph.

The students will use the visual, word bank, and rubric to explain the carbon dioxide cycle and why the rabbit needs the plant(besides for food) and why the plant needs the rabbit.

FOSSIL FUEL PARTNER RESEARCH PRESENTATION
Students will use rubric to research the 3 different fossil fuels. They will have to understand what their fossil fuel is used for, how it was made, and if it is renewable or nonrenewable. They will also have to put their learning into a paragraph.
To extend activity, have students present their fossil fuels and students shave to reflect on any new observations or facts they have learned.

CHOOSE THE ALTERNATIVE ENERGY!!! (Student made advertisement)
Students will utilize the rubric to create an advertisement that will challenge them to persuade their audience to use ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESOURCES instead of FOSSIL FUELS. This will cause students to reflect on what they know about fossil fuels and alternative energy resources.

Density Open Ended Scenarios
There are 4 density pictures with at least 4 open ended questions for each. The students are forced to explain their thinking of why each object is more or less dense. They also have to compare different objects to each other. These questions show any misconceptions that students may have. This activity can be done independently, in pairs, or cooperative groups.

This research activity helps deepen the students understanding of alternative energy verses fossil fuels. It allows them to work in cooperative groups and also track their progress with a rubric.

Experience
I have taught 2nd grade for 7 years. I was then moved into a K-2 interventionist position for 2 years. Lastly, I have been a 5th grade Science teacher for 10 years.
Teaching style
I am a very practical and hands on teacher. I try to incorporate multiple learning styles within my lessons. I am big on using stations and small groups to reinforce learning.
Google Classroom has been a very useful platform to differentiate student learning and allow student's to guide their own learning. One of my strong points is breaking the content down to where all students master it. I have been able transfer this skill into creating Interactive mini lessons, questioning, labs, and journaling.

I have been on my school's Teacher Leadership team for 4 years. I also was chosen as an interventionalist teacher to help those students struggling. I was previously chosen by my assistant superintendent to be videotaped to help with professional development.

Additional biographical information
God has given me a heart for the inner-city child. I long to see them successful and have adapted lessons and ideas to better help them. I love teaching and seeing children learn. I have been married just over a year to my best friend. I am excited to learn new things and share my ideas with you!!!
