Using "Nurse's Day Out," students participate in a modern-English reader's theater based on Act II, Scenes 4 and 5 of Shakespeare's classic play. The lines are easy enough for upper elementary, yet meaty enough for fr

About the store

Experience

I've taught nearly every grade level, including Kindergarten and secondary English.

Teaching style

Kids shouldn't be bored or distracted, so it's up to me to craft lessons and assignments that work, meaning they're engaging. I hate fluff and busywork as much as my students do. Give me poetry that chills, Shakespeare on the stage whenever possible, and lots of encouragement to read and write for pleasure!

My own education history

My brave mother homeschooled me K-12 and I attended a Christian university, where I studied Creative Writing with a minor in English. I received my BA in Dec. 2000. Since then, I've earned two teaching certificates through the ABCTE alternative route to certification. I continue to pursue my education, most recently by attending a Summer Spanish Institute and joining the Idaho CORE Coach Network training program.

Additional biographical information

I'm a mom of three who loves to sew and quilt in addition to reading and writing for fun. "So many books, so little time" was never truer! The potted plant icon in my shop images came from http://handdrawngoods.com.
