Bridget Caliendo

During my first 6 years of teaching, I have been both a special education teacher and a classroom teacher in third grade. I have worked with kindergarteners, second graders, and sixth graders as a resource room teacher. I have also co-taught in an inclusive second grade classroom. My most recent experience has been in a third grade classroom for the past 4 years.

I try to model my own teaching style after the teachers I remember most from my own education. I get to know my students on an academic and personal level. Trying to incorporate student interests has proven to be an invaluable strategy when teaching. If I've learned anything from my students, it's that no two students learns the same way. I am constantly reflecting and "tweaking" my teaching in order to best meet the needs of everyone.

I went to Marist College for my undergraduate degree (Psychology and Special Education). I left with my certifications in both elementary and special education. My masters degree in literacy was completed at Dowling College. I am currently working towards my TESOL certification through Dowling College.
