A STEM Project - Tower of Power
This project is designed to be an introduction or review for the Engineering Design Process. Students work in groups to design and construct a tower made from straws and masking tape which will hold a softball aloft for a minimum of 60 seconds. After testing their first design, students will re-design, build, and assess another tower. This project can be cross-curricular with ELA. Rubric is included with the project.

Teaching style
Working together, students, parents,and teachers can all have successful learning experiences. Teaching is a team sport in which all of the players work toward the common goal of enriching students' lives.
My own education history
I received my BA from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX, with a major in chemistry and a minor in math. My student teaching was in the San Antonio public school system. Subsequently, I received my MA from the University of Texas at Austin in the same areas.
