Home for a Gnome Bundle: Intro PowerPoint, Student Worksheet, STEM Project

In this bundle, three items are included. The first is an introductory PowerPoint which explains the Pythagorean Theorem and which has student examples. Secondly, there is a student worksheet where students can apply what they have learned; there is a link to a Google doc with the student portion of the worksheet. Finally, there is a STEM project in which students must design and build a home for a gnome.

Distance Formula Bundle (Distance Learning)

This bundle has a PowerPoint presentation and a student activity, both on the distance formula. The PowerPoint presentation inclues the derivation of the distance formula from the Pythagorean Theorem, student examples, and an exit ticket to check for student understanding. The worksheet contains distance formula problems with integers, fractions, and decimals as well as an added color by number activity. The activity can be done on hard copies or virtually.

I have taught middle school and high school for 21 years including a variety of math levels, chemistry, and physics in both private and public schools in the US.

Teaching style

Working together, students, parents,and teachers can all have successful learning experiences. Teaching is a team sport in which all of the players work toward the common goal of enriching students' lives.

My own education history

I received my BA from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX, with a major in chemistry and a minor in math. My student teaching was in the San Antonio public school system. Subsequently, I received my MA from the University of Texas at Austin in the same areas.
