About the store

Experience

I have been blessed to teach high school mathematics for the past 10 years. I have taught grades 9-12 at all levels. I am currently the mathematics department head at my school.

Teaching style

As a mathematics teacher, I strive for a balance of inquiry-based and direct instruction lessons, group and individual work and open and drill type questions. Each type of style, lesson and question has its place in my classroom. At the beginning of my career, I quickly realized that not everyone loved doing math work…. How could this be?!?!? I remember as a student feeling the immense satisfaction of seeing my answers in the back of the book or after numerous attempts and persevering, the great sense of accomplishment/relief that I finally GOT the answer. I quickly had to find a solution for students to complete their work and master a skill that they would otherwise classify as ‘boring’ or ‘these are all the same question, do I have to do them all?’. Which brings me to my goal for this page, to turn the average worksheet into something that is fun, engaging, requires collaboration, gets students moving and ultimately getting math work DONE! My hope is you will find my resources useful and you can bring more jfun to your classroom!

My own education history

I graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science. I have teaching qualifications in the Primary Division, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Division with a teachable in mathematics and have my Honours Specialist in Mathematics. I have taken additional qualifications in Special Education.
