In this activity, students will find slope from a graph, situation, tile pattern, and between two points. I tape up the papers around the room and in the hallway. Students can begin with any paper. When they solve the problem, they look for their answer and then solve the problem on that paper. Easy, no fuss activity for teachers. Simply print the papers. Make copies of the recording sheet if you wish. Then tape up the activity cards.
This flow chart helps students decide when they should use what strategy for solving quadratic equations. The strategies covered in this flow chart are Square Roots, Factoring and Zero Product Property, and Quadratic Formula.
I used this activity for my Algebra 1 students in our unit on Graphing Quadratic Functions. This activity is to introduce the different forms of quadratic equations. I use this activity after students have mastered graphing quadratic functions in standard form. I then give them this activity to introduce other forms. There are 27 quadratic equations. First students sort them by form (Standard Form, Vertex Form, Factored Form). Then students sort them by which equations produce the same parabola.
