This French Thanksgiving Powerpoint uses simple French to talk about different harvest festivals in the world, Thanksgiving vocabulary, and includes an activity (with examples) where students draw a turkey and 10 different things that they're thankful for in French. This is great for getting some conversation going around Thanksgiving. There is also a poem that I found, which would be great for more advanced students.

About the store

Experience

I lived in France and taught English there during the 2007-2008 school year. I have taught several adult courses through the Alliance Française de Missoula, and I have also tutored adult students from time to time. I did my student teaching in French and Art at Sentinel High School in Missoula in the fall of 2010 and have been teaching French there since 2011.

Teaching style

In French I err more towards the communicative style of teaching and learning, though I feel that a good solid base in grammar is also important. I tend to use lots of visuals, stories, gestures (I am learning more and more about the AIM method, which I feel has a lot of great elements, though I wouldn't say that I use it all of the time.), games, songs, and art. I believe that learning should be active and engaging for all of my students. It's important for me to find a balance between keeping my classes interesting and creative (sometimes downright crazy), yet also providing a clear structure for those who need it. I'm very thankful to be teaching a subject that provides so much flexibility and can open up so many doors to my students.

My own education history

I have a BFA in Art with an emphasis in graphic design from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I also have a bachelor's degree in French and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Montana. I am certified to teach both Art and French K-12 in the state of Montana.
