Pi Day Activity: Discovering Pi

Students discover pi by measuring the circumferences and diameters of circular objects and then find their ratios. Students organize their work in the table. The best part -- a tape measure is provided on the worksheet! Students can review the definitions of diameter and circumference in the graphic at the beginning of the worksheet. I like to focus on all components of math proficiency including conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, strategic competence, and adaptive reasoning, meeting students where they are. I enjoy trying to find ways to motivate students and make math fun!
