Virginia Fifth Grade Math Note Slides (See list of topics in description)

I posted this into our Google Classroom so that students could easily access the notes. Throughout the year, I added slides as we learned the concepts. This gave students one location to find all of the notes they needed throughout the year as well as when we were in review for SOL tests. A table of contents is included and slides are linked to the table of contents. Students can simply click on the topic and it will bring them to the slide/the first slide of that topic. Virginia Studies Timeline (Virginia Studies SOL aligned)

These are specific events and the year associated with each that students need to know in Virginia Studies in preparation for their SOL. I printed each time period in a different color. I used sentence strips to create the "timeline" and placed each above it's appropriate location on the number line. It can also be used interactively and students can place events in order on a timeline.

Place Value for Classroom Walls

I created this as a visual reminder of place value. I suggest printing each period "house" in a different color, however, you can use it as you see fit. It contains whole numbers up to the millions and decimal place values through thousandths, and the word form of the number.

RMS Titanic- Google Forms

This is a passage I created about the RMS Titanic. It includes a variety of questions that cover a variety of standards. While it was created for fourth grade, it can also be utilized in third and fifth grades. It is a Google Form so it is self grading.

Ordering Fraction/Mixed Number

This is an activity I created as a more engaging way for students to order fractions and mixed numbers. I spun a spinner on our Promethean board and students chose what box they wanted to place the number in (I gave them a few seconds to do so), then spun again until each box was filled. Then students independently created their number line and placed their fractions and mixed numbers appropriately on the number line.
