This activity is an exploration of the number pi. I usually use it on Pi Day. It is intended to be a fun activity. I usually allow students to bring pie to eat while they work on the activity. Students start out measuring the diameter and circumference of given circles to determine pi as a measurement. Then physical objects are measured to determine the same measurements. An assessment is included. The document is editable and answers are included in the assessment.

There are 25 problems on simplifying exponents. There is a BINGO page with the answers. I tell my students that they only have to work enough problems to make a BINGO. The answer key is the BINGO page. If students work 1-17, they will BINGO. I find most students skip around and work at least 20 :) I teach the exponent property rules and use this as an independent practice activity. I usually give a treat for the first BINGO.

Convert recipes and make a booklet of the work. Reenforces fractions, ratios, and proportions.

I designed this project the year the Saints played in the super bowl, so the data is not current, but is a great project for teaching or assessing a unit on statistics. Students create a frequency chart, histogram, stem and leaf plot, and a box and whiskers plot using data from the Saints foot ball team.

This PowerPoint introduces the concept of limits.

Students are given limited supplies and are directed to build a tower. The tallest free standing tower is the winner. My students love this project.

This would be a good handout for absent students. It includes notes and examples. It is editable to suit your needs. I used it when I taught multiple courses in one classroom (alternative school)
