Students can practice working with fact families by using this cute template. The teacher can write 3 different numbers that are in a fact family together in the triangle (the roof of the house). Ex: 2, 4, 6. Then the students fill in the "house." 2 + 4 = 6 4 + 2 = 6 6 - 4 = 2 6 -2 = 4 Print out as many as you want to create a booklet for each student. See Fact Family House Cover as well.

Cover 2 math standards at once with 1st or 2nd grade by giving students these word problems that deal with fractions AND coins. It would be helpful to have actual coins for this work, so that students can lay out the problems. Ex: Lay out 5 pennies and 2 dimes. What fraction of these coins are pennies? (5/7)

Images and labels of the Montessori Geometry cabinets including: Square, circle, rectangle, parallelogram, trapezoid, kite. Polygons - pentagon, hexagon, heptagon, octagon, nonagon, decagon. Types of triangles: right, equilateral, scalene, isosceles. May be used for nomenclature practice, have students cut out the shapes and mix and match the labels.

Students will cut and paste the various scenarios from "I will catch a frog today" to "I will brush my teeth today" under the appropriate column: impossible unlikely possible likely certain. This is a good way to introduce students to the language of probability. An extension for this activity would be to print the 5-column chart again and have them write down their own scenarios, or work with a partner to come up with some.

10 subtraction word problems using dynamic subtraction.

This is a great way to integrate art into your math lesson when introducing liquid equivalencies from cup to gallon. How many cups are in a gallon? Pints? Quarts? Half gallons? When students assemble this "measurement mosaic" they will be able to look at their masterpiece and tell you! Students will answer questions in which they must write a fraction using the calendar of the month of May. This is just an idea. You could make your own questions using a different month and writing different questions. Ex: What fraction of the days in May end in a 1? Ex: What fraction of the days in May are a Friday?

10 problems that present a situation in which multiplication can be used to solve the problem. Requires students to visualize, draw a picture, and write out the multiplication problem.

This worksheet gives students explicit instruction for creating a simple line graph plotting the average heights of boys ages 9-13. Then students must answer questions according to the information in the graph.

Students who are just being introduced to division can work with multiplication to help them determine the answers to the division problems.
