💛 About Calm & Capable Co.
Hi there! I’m Kelsi, the creator behind Calm & Capable Co. — a space where I combine my love for teaching, creativity, and helping students thrive both academically and emotionally.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and my Master’s in Special Education from Fort Hays State University. I began my teaching journey in 6th grade and have been teaching Special Education ever since — supporting students with both academic and behavioral needs.
Over the years, I’ve created countless classroom resources to meet my students’ unique needs, and I’m so excited to finally share those materials (plus many new ones!) with other educators.
Outside of school, I’m a proud mom of three — a curious 3rd grader, a creative pre-K kiddo, and a little one who’s learning right alongside his siblings at home. I’m a total homebody at heart, but I love coming to school, staying busy, and finding joy in creating meaningful, engaging resources that make teaching a little easier and a lot more fun.

Teaching style
My teaching style is laid back, calm, and relationship-focused—but always with clear expectations and accountability. I believe kids learn best when they feel safe, respected, and understood. While I keep things lighthearted and flexible, I also teach important life lessons along the way—like responsibility, kindness, and perseverance.
In my classroom, we celebrate progress, embrace mistakes, and grow together—academically and as people. I aim to create resources that reflect this balance: structured, yet flexible… fun, but meaningful.
