About the store
Taught 2nd and 3rd grade by looping with my classes. I thrive on creating my own lessons, worksheets, and extension activities. I usually have the "low" group which is never actually just students with special needs. There's always a chance to provided challenging and engaging materials in each lesson for all of my students!
Tutored for 8+ years all grades and all subject areas. I create many of my own worksheets for these tutoring sessions as well as pre-assessments for each grade level to determine where each child's academic needs are.
I love attending professional development courses, workshops, and conferences.
I'm the STEM Liason for my school so be sure to look out for my future STEM Transdisciplinary lessons and units during this school year!

Vocabulary- Homographs Workshop
Students will have fun with the homograph sentence strips and using them to sketch a meaningful scene! Students take one strip at a time, ensure their understanding of the homographs after reading the sentences by using resources around the classroom, and sketch a scene that represents their strip. Next, students create their own homograph sentence using both words and sketch their sentence!
Kids continue on their own with additional strips.

At Home Reading Initiative- Minute to Win it!
In some instances, students need motivation to read. The Minute to Win It! Program is structured to allow the students to read for as many minutes as they wish each night while a timer is set. Once they choose to stop reading, they record the amount of minutes they have read. The guardians sign off on their reading and return the provided chart to school.

M.A.T.H. Station Rotation Cards
After developing my own program which you can read about in my blog thepopeof4th.blogspot.com, I found what works best for my 4th grade students. M.A.T.H. Station Rotations are a fabulous way to address all of your student's needs by personalizing and customizing instruction. All students meet with the instructor during whole group to receive what they need (ie. reteaching, extension learning, or in-depth practice with problem solving strategies).

Teaching style
Student centered learning environment. To have my students explore and discover in their own learning environment is very rewarding. To accomplish this, worksheets must be geared towards all learning strengths. I don't just assess with written work. Now, with the new Common Core on the way, we must learn to be resourceful and accommodating to all types of informal and formal assessments.
Students are given more freedom and develop a sense of a personal drive to learn and enhance their own learning.
Structure is important for students to be capable of handling their freedoms in the classroom and be successful in their own learning. You will see some classroom management pieces here, however, nothing works better than working together with your students to develop the "ideal" classroom setting. Reinforcing what you and your students desire in their learning environment will only build success.
Common Core lessons--there will be many! This type of teaching is very student centered. So, be on the look out for activities which cause your children to...THINK!
