Shake it up! Egg Carton Comparing Numbers and Equations Game is a fun way to shake up your math games! Students try to shake up 2 pom poms (or similar objects) to make an equation. The student with the greater equation gets the point. If they are equal equations, I have a shake off and the student with the pom pom in the greater number gets the point (you could totally reverse it and the student with the pom pom in the smaller number that is the least gets the point). I created this math mat for my students as another tool to help teach double digit addition and subtraction. My students are able to notice patterns while moving about on the 120 chart and see relationships between numbers as it breaks down how to move around. It also helps build their mental math abilities. All you have to do is print as many mats as you need and slip into a plastic sheet protector and it's ready to go. I created a simple shape puzzle to help students recognize the names of the shapes they are working with in geometry. Simply cut out the pieces and cut the rectangle pieces along the middle line to create a self checking puzzle. Great for a center activity. Common Core Standard CCSS 1.g.1

Use this game to get kids moving around the room and practicing fact families. Put a card on each students desk. Give each student a recording sheet. When you say go, allow time for students to solve the fact family. Have students write the card letter they have in the dashed box so you know which fact family card the student had. I created these worksheets for homework to align with the common core math curriculum standard 1.OA.1: Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions. These problems contain "change unknown" and "start unknown" word problems. At the end of each worksheet (4 problems when copied back to back) contain a math review concept at the end. I created this activity for my kindergarteners who were having a hard time understanding decomposing numbers 1-10. It was a great way for the students to visually see how the different combinations of links (which correspond to the color coded equation cards) can all compose the same number. I created this PowerPoint slide show to introduce basic natural resources for my kindergarteners.

I created this poem while teaching multiplication. I had the students read my poem and highlight the key words about the commutative property. Then I had the students brainstorm key words about other properties and terms of multiplication (arrays, identity property, zero property, etc.) and create their own multiplication poems. *Updated 1/22/14: now in a PDF format as requested by many people who have reviewed this product :)
