I have a Master's in Literacy and have been teaching for 11 years, with 9 of those years in first grade. I have always loved creating resources for my classroom and started my Teachers Pay Teachers store in 2016. I hope these resources can be a great addition to your own classroom and can lift your planning load!
Teaching style
I really love to teach ELA, and try to incorporate reading and writing skills into all of my other subject areas. I also believe writing is an application of all reading skills, so my students are writing every day on exciting topics that we love to read about. Reading instruction in first grade aligns with the science of reading, with a large focus on phonological skills.
In Math, I use Guided Math. I meet with small, rotating groups every day for targeted instruction.

During the 2017-2018 school year, I was awarded the National Blue Ribbon with my school.
My own education history
I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education and also completed an M.Ed. in Literacy, to earn Literacy Specialist certification.

I have wanted to teach since my first day of kindergarten, and am so happy to be in a career that I enjoy so much :)
