I just started using iPad minis in my classroom and I often have students (second grade) coming to ask me about specific things. We started off practicing using apps and such, but I wanted to answer frequently-asked questions. Students can use this display to help themselves when using the iPads if I am working with other students.
Students practice scanning QR codes on a tablet. Each code reveals half of a compound word. Students record word and use the worksheet to find two matching halves that make a whole word. They can then write them in sentences.
Students in second grade use this as a self-discovery of different cultural universals about Mexico, including food, clothing, music, homes, transportation, language, celebrations, etc.
Students in second grade can use a QR reader to find part of compound words. Then they use the graphic organizer to write and match the parts of words. Students write the new compound word in a sentence to demonstrate understanding of the new word.
