While talking about water pollution, my class did a mid-unit graphing activity. This was created to be a refresher on how to make a line and bar graph on paper. We did the graphing together as a class, and I helped them plot the points accurately, giving them tips along the way. The product is delivered as a Google Doc, so you may edit it as you need.
I used this lab in the beginning of the year when introducing scientific measurement. The students are asked to measure the height and shoe length of classmates. They then graph their data and answer basic analysis questions. Product is delivered as a Google folder, so both the document and spreadsheet are editable. Lab report is a Google doc, which can be printed out or assigned on Google Classroom. There is a Google Sheet template assigned that I had my students use to practice graphing on
I used this Metric prefixes Foldable to help introduce the idea to my students. We used it for many in-class activities and worksheets, where I had the students use it as reference. I try to give them intuition about which way the decimal should be moving. The product is delivered as a google Doc so you may edit it as needed.
Using a map and the scale provided, estimate how many miles you will travel, the amount of time it will take, and the cost of gas. The goal of the assignment was to practice using a map's scale, but I also added the extra math calculations to push the relevance of this assignment. The product includes a map already labeled with the places, the Google Doc file if you would like to change anything, and a blank map that I used.
Use this cut-out pie chart with you students, whether you are discussing percentages and ratios, or Conservation of Energy. Fully customizable, write whatever you want on the pieces, print them in different colors to represent things. Make them in class, or just use it as a teacher recourse.
