While reading the novel The Westing Game I have my students use dictionary.com to search the different words from the novel and complete the skill sheet provided. The skill sheets say what part of speech and what number definition they need to write down. Each skill sheet and quiz span over about three chapters. There are also answer keys to each quiz.

This character chart is used as we read The Outsiders. I like to have my students find the information and back up their thoughts with page numbers and quotes. This is a great project to be used during a Solar System unit. Each student is given a planet to study and create a 3D replica planet. This document provides directions, guidelines, a grading sheet and picture examples.
This is a chart that I use for our novel unit on the novel Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. The students write down the definition, draw a picture that reminds them of the definition, create their own definition and come up with an antonym or synonym for each word.

Chapter quizzes with answers, vocabulary activity and quizzes with answers, and an end of the novel book trailer project directions and rubric. The vocabulary activity can be done by the teacher giving the students the definition or I have my students look up the words on dictionary.com and give them the exact definition to write down for example Noun #2.
This lab studies the difference between Skittle and M&M's and what happens when you place them in water and in baking soda to test the different. It also included graphing, creating a hypothesis, and a conclusion.
This is a project used with my Biome unit. This can be done individually or with a small group. They students will research an assigned Biome and create a trip based on their research. This project adds computer and mathematical skills to a science research unit. This packet includes worksheets for the students to use while doing research, directions, and a grading rubric.

I have the students write down the definition, create their own definition, draw a picture that reminds them of the definition and come up with a synonym and antonym for the word on a different document.
