This little book, created by educational illustrator, Gary Goodwin, looks at fathers and how different they can be. This would be a perfect prompt for units on diversity and family. Included is a PPT file so that the book can be projected, as well as a pdf printable, and short video of the book that can be posted for parents and students alike.

Teaching style

I believe in reaching students where they are. As many of my classes have varying levels of English proficiency, I have found graphics very helpful in bridging the gap with EAL students. I create cartoons to explain concepts and teach vocabulary for my subjects.
