A simple mapping activity where students create their own pirate island. They must place certain items on their island and record the grid coordinates of each item. This could be an in class activity or a fun homework challenge.

1. My Dram Jar - Students create their own dream jar. They write about the dream and draw a picture inside the jar. 2. Visualisation - Before seeing a picture of the BFG, students listen to the chapter describing what the BFG looks like and draw a picture to match. 3. A Friend for the BFG - Students create their own giant that could be a friend for the BFG, then use descriptive language to describe their giant.

In these activities, students practice using adjectives and descriptive language to describe a pirate ship. Students have the option to describe the picture of a ship, or draw their own ship to describe.

A measurement activity where students practice using a ruler to measure the length of the chocolate bunnies. A fun activity to do heading towards Easter!

This is a quick assessment to check students understanding of doubles, halves and bridging to 10. The second page includes two digit addition and subtraction sums and ordering numbers.

I created this homework challenge for both my students and parents! It's a fun range of activities students can complete over the school holidays instead of just sitting inside and watching TV or playing on an iPad.
