This pdf packet includes lesson suggestions, 2 worksheets, and a note to send home to parents that clearly outlines the directions. The worksheets allow students to find similarities among themselves and other students.

These small posters show the number parts of numbers 5-10. Instead of a + sign, they are presented with the word "and" in each number sentence. Once students have firmed up the meaning of "and," you may transition to the + sign easily (and eventually the = sign). I send home these posters so that students can practice with parents/guardians. I laminate them and use them in math centers/stations as well. They may be enlarged and hung in the classroom as well.
