About the store
I taught gifted and talented students for 30 years in Shelby County Schools and retired in May of 2017. During that time,I found myself teaching in a variety of schools in different grade levels and subject matters, which is how I became a department store. After retiring, I taught fifth grade Language Arts and Social Studies in a private school for two years. I did some subbing and gave ghost tours downtown for Historical Haunts in Memphis. I am also an author who has been published in AppleSeeds Magazine, which is a part of the Cricket family and have many home written close read stories in my store.

Experience

Teaching style

I enjoy making and presenting lessons via Promethean Board flipcharts and have quite a few homemade charts, which I have transferred to PowerPoint. I always aim for higher level thinking and questioning as needed for gifted and talented kids; however, many resource teachers purchase my resources due to the clear lesson plans required from the various schools I taught at.

Awards & shining teacher moments

• I retired as a Level 5 teacher on a five point scale. • My students consistently won the Memphis in May Writing contest each year. • My best awards come in the form of hugs and homemade cards telling me I'm great!

My own education history

• University of Missouri, Columbia, MO (1979-1983) Bachelor’s of Health Science in Speech Pathology & Audiology • Maryville College, St. Louis, MO (1985-1986) Master’s in Special Education • Institute of Children’s Literature Completed two online writing courses
