I have taught for a total of eight years. Five of them were in upper elementary and the rest in early childhood. I now stay home with my first born and am excited to create activities for teachers to continue to use in the classroom.
This is a 3 week unit in a PBL style. A PBL is a project where students come together to investigate a question. This is a science unit that will cover the life cycle of a plant, plant needs, producers, plant parts and their jobs, however, you'll also cover standards in writing, reading, math, and speaking and listening!
At the end of the PBL there is a presentation and/or assessment option to give to students and students will be recording their plant observations in a 10-page student booklet!

My students LOVE Quiz Quiz Trade -
This package includes a mixture of addition and subtraction word problems. The word problems also sometimes require an estimation and have a variety of key words used for addition and subtraction.
In this lesson plan:
- Guided practice
- Independent practice
- Poem for students struggling in estimation
This hands-on activity is to be implemented with math stations. There are six shapes for students to measure in inches, a worksheet for students to record their measurements, and a key! Have fun!
One of the most important skills to learn in math is being able to add mentally with good strategies. These cards I use once a week in my classroom to help all students with their mental math skills. Kids come up with really good strategies and my low babies seem to 'get it' better when it's a peer describing their strategy rather than me giving them one!
