This is a power point of French gestures (ex la bise, mon oeil, faire la moue, j'ai du nez, etc with an explanation. Each gesture is accompanied by a photograph that teaches students how to make the gesture. I then give a scenario in English and students must act out the gesture at their seats. This powerpoint always gets a lot of laughs and I give extra credit points during the marking period for anyone that uses a French gesture in context.
This power point teaches and explains Jacque Prevert's famous poem "Dejeuner du Matin." It teaches vocabulary of the poem as well as the deeper meanings of the poem. Students are asked to act out the poem as well as form questions for the author. I like to do this activity when I am being observed as it also teaches the "questioning matrix" for critical thinking.
