The Artisan Teacher by Mark Rutherford is a wonderful book that I would recommend to any instructional coach or teacher leader. Upon reading it, I realized that using the 23 teacher qualities for a guided reflection would make for a collaborative professional development session, as well as provide me with a coaching tool I could use later with every individual teacher. This reflection is useful for teachers of any subject area or grade level as the book was written for all of these audiences.

About the store

Experience

After teaching for eleven years across a variety of specialties (ELA, reading intervention, Alternative Education, Virtual Education), I am now a 6-12 instructional coach. I love being in the classroom with kids and coaching allows me to be in so many different classrooms!

Teaching style

Engaging activities such as escape rooms, station lessons, competitions, technology projects, etc. are a joy for me to plan and use with students. Aligning classroom work, especially writing, with authentic experiences is also important to me. Above all, connecting kids with books they love and inspiring them to read is my passion.

My own education history

B.A. in Secondary Education-English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2010) Master of Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (2015) Alternative Education licensure from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (2019) National Board Certified Teacher in English Language Arts (2021)

Additional biographical information

My two wonderful children (ages 13 and 8) keep me hopping and motivated! My husband supports me in countless ways. Family is everything. :) A part of teaching that I've always loved is creating my own materials and units. All the materials that I sell on TpT have been user-tested by me and my students in the classroom. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Feedback is always welcome!
