About the store

Experience

A 10-year veteran teacher specializing in vocal music. I have taught K-12 general music and choir as well as private piano and voice lessons. In my "free time" I direct musical theater, both in the educational and community theater settings.

Teaching style

I'd call my teaching style "eclectic". I like to work with my students to understand their interests and I use music to enhance those interests. Sometimes this means warming up a choir with yoga set to Gregorian chant. Other times, it means being downright silly with first graders or playing rock band instruments with middle school. No matter what, I definitely have lot of fun exploring teaching with my kiddos!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I had my first "Hey, Mrs. Fisher, I'm going to college to be a Music Teacher" moment this year! One of my 4-year choir students who was always the odd-kid-out finally found her niche and will be studying to become a music teacher. I couldn't be more proud!

My own education history

B.A. in Music Education, Augustana College 2010 M.M.E., Choral Pedagogy, Illinois State University 2017
