This is a worksheet designed to help students understand ratios. It is a great way for students to practice writing ratios, simplifying ratios, and writing equivalent ratios. Students fill in the chart by writing the original (unsimplified) ratio for the sports equipment. In the "What'd you do?" column, they tell what they did to simplify the ratio. Then, in the "Simplified Ratio" column, they write the ratio in simplest terms. In the bottom section, they write the simplified ratio, and then the
This specific loop puzzle has 10 questions over adding and subtracting decimals. Most of them are word problems, with a few being straight concept questions.
What is a loop puzzle? Traditionally they are called "I have, Who has?" but I use my puzzles as a class activity in the hallway. I print out the papers, put them up on the walls, and have students work through them alone or with a partner. Students start out by choosing a problem at the bottom of a random sheet, and working that problem.
I use this with my classes as a review for Central Tendency. Students work in groups of 4, and find the mean, median, mode and range of different things. Activities include finding the central tendency of the height of their group, and finding central tendency for a week weather forecast. Students enjoy this activity because it uses real data that they find in class.
This activity is a way for students to practice finding equivalent number forms. There are 3 columns labeled Fraction, Decimal, and Percent. Students are given 1 value and must find the others using what they know about equivalent number forms.
This specific loop puzzle has 15 questions over 2-step equations. I use this with my 7th grade Pre-AP so they are still somewhat at the beginner-intermediate level.
