Students will create an array (I used jewels) at the top of the worksheet to represent a multiplication problem. Then, they will "ninja chop," the jewels into two sections and write the new multiplication problems to represent the distributive property.
I have learned that when you incorporate things that students are interested in, they are more excited to learn. Therefore, I created a counting and subtraction worksheet based on some popular characters/items of the time.
