This interactive interpretive guide is for students in middle to high school who live in the Monterey Bay area. It is intended to support student fieldwork on the endangered butterfly and its habitat. Ideal for a field trip or independent study packet.
This activity is designed to encourage reluctant readers to engage with expository reading in a creative way. Students are asked to write a found poem based on a current event article. The assignment includes a sample article with highlighted passages as well as a sample poem based on that article. It could be used as a stand alone activity or part of a larger unit. It could also be used as a sub plan as long as students have access to current event articles.
