This is 4 versions of a quiz I gave students at the beginning of precalculus after reviewing the first week of school. This helped me identify weak areas that I would need to review throughout the year. This would be helpful for a trigonometry class or as an end of the year activity for Algebra 2.
Students who have trouble seeing transformations of exponential functions (where is the "inside" of the function, etc) will benefit from these notes that show how the function will change for each type of transformation. Also, see my practice worksheet!
This resource is to help students master their parent function knowledge by matching names with graphs and equations. I have used this resource as both a matching and as a reference sheet. To use as a matching, it should be cut in advance. I have also laminated them to use from year to year.
This is a bundle of a practice worksheet and a short quiz that I use in my Calculus class after students learn to find normal and tangent lines using limits.
This beginning derivatives quiz covers the constant, sum, difference, power, product, and quotient rules. It does NOT have trigonometric, exponenential, or logarithmic functions and the Chain Rule is not needed.
Students will use Desmos (or any other graphing utility) to explore why the graphs of the functions tangent, cotangent, cosecant, and secant look and behave the way that they do.
This activity will help your students understand that e is a constant that has a value and isn't a variable. It also helps to begin talking about limits.
This quiz will require students to use the Chain Rule (sometimes multiple times), along with the product and quotient rules. Students must also know the derivatives of the six trig functions.
