13 years of Diverse Teaching Experiences including: rural and city classrooms, camps, student leadership camps, online/ distance education, and teacher trainings.

My teaching style incorporates new and old methods, such as socratic method, place-based learning, and simulations in project-based units. You can find my classrooms very active and moving, as students explore and make their own discovery, while I help them to see the connection to the standards/ content we are working on.

Some say I am a born teacher! I graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1995 with a degree in Earth Science, after volunteering in classrooms and working in summer camps. I then entered the Utah State University education program and earned my teaching credential in 1997. Upon receiving my teaching credential I began working in the classrooms of northern Utah. A huge change led me to the small and remote villages of western and northern Alaska. It was in these villages I felt a huge need to share with other teachers how to incorporate place-based teaching, standards and project-based learning in the classroom.
