This is a great station activity as it is self-checking. Students solve the problems in each box. The sum of each row and column should equal the "magic" number. This allows students to self-assess their correctness.
At the start of each school year parents and teachers alike go out and buy school supplies. Now it's your students turn. I have provided a basic supply listened sheet for work. You can use paper ads, but I used online sales. For my 6th graders, I limited their website options to 2, Staples or Walmart. Depending on the grade level, you may only give them 2 sites to find all the items, or leave it more open-ended and have them find the best deals out there. This helps students develop fluency with
Students work with a partner and each partner is responsible for a set of questions. For each row, the answers should come out the same. This allows the students to check if they are solving their problem correctly.
