This lesson was designed for 8th US History to be used as a closing lesson for my slavery and Reconstruction unit to connect the past to present. This lesson can easily be adapted and used for 11th grade US History as well. Also it is designed to connect the hisortical references to have a conversation about the Black American identity and social justice. I created it because I found a lot of lessons created had more of an ELA focus and I wanted something specific to the history.
These chapter reading guides are designed to have students understand and think about what they are reading in Chapter 1 "The Collisions of Cultures," Chapter 2 "Transplantations and Borderlands," and Chapter 3 "Society and Culture in Provincial America" by focusing on AP skill development in historical thinking skills, reasoning processes, visual analysis, claim practice, etc. My students will use these guides to prepare for their weekly reading quizzes that will have them practice multiple cho
