This digital escape room is a great, engaging way to have your students practice analyzing and interpreting proportional linear relationships with real-world contexts. It requires zero prep. The only thing your students will need is access to an electronic device. It is self-checking, and it works great for group work and individual work alike! An answer key is also included for your convenience and is linked for on the resource page you will receive after purchasing. There are 5 "locks" that st
This list of calculator tricks/skills is specifically useful for 8th grade math using the TI-Nspire. It is aligned with the TEKS (for Texas standards) but would be useful for any 8th grade math class using the Nspire. My students have found these tips to be SUPER helpful, but often need a reminder of what to click. I printed one of these for each of their journals, and I also made a poster sized version for my classroom wall. I designed this to be user friendly showing the shortcut along with an
This Breakout EDU activity was designed to review STAAR grammar concepts that we have been covering in class this year. It takes each group about 35-45 minutes to complete the activity on average. The kids LOVED it, and they asked if we could do stuff like this every day in class. It required them to use a lot of different grammar skills and to work together as a team. The entire breakout activity is Star Wars themed. The full list of required materials for this activity, the writing skills need
This digital escape room is a great, engaging way to have your students writing and solving one variable equations with variables on both sides using real-world contexts. It requires zero prep. The only thing your students will need is access to an electronic device. It is self-checking, and it works great for group work and individual work alike! There are 5 "tasks" that students have to complete, and each one must be completed correctly before it will allow students to move on to the next. All

In this error analysis, students will be given work samples of 8 different equations that have been solved incorrectly. Each work sample contains exactly one mistake. Students must use their higher-order thinking skills to examine each work sample in order to identify the step where the mistake lies, explain the mistake in their own words, and correct it in order to obtain the correct solution for the equation. The equations used in this activity have variables on both sides and rational number
This rule sorting activity is perfect to use with your students after you have taught them about the 4 different types of transformations. It allows them to put the information together and practice identifying what type of transformation happened by just looking at the rule/algebraic notation. This is oftentimes the way it is tested on high-stakes tests such as STAAR, so it is very helpful for testing purposes. Students will be able to compare the rules and discover trends among them.
This is an activity that I designed for a fifth grade student who was having difficulty dividing fractions. It focuses on dividing whole numbers by fractions. It is very simple to set up. Just print out the pages front to back. This will make two sets of cards. One set will have dogs on one side and problems on the other. The other side will have bones on one side and answers on the other. It is played like a normal game of memory. My student had a lot of fun with this, and I hope yours does too
This Excel spreadsheet is a perfect way to take all of your students' individual special education, section 504, and/or ESL paperwork and organize the information in it on one, easy-to-use sheet.
