Students will read the story 'Yertle the Turtle' and then participate in this mock trial for their Social Studies class. Each student will be provided with a part (can accommodate entire classes as many students will be assigned to the jury) and a script to read from. Practicing parts is recommended for the trial to run smoothly.

This Graphic Organizer allows students to become more familiar with important safety signs in our communities and recognize which signs are generally for drivers and which signs pedestrians must follow.
Students will create a bookmark that reminds them of 7 different skills to use while they're reading to increase comprehension and sound out complicated words. Students will begin by writing their names and drawing a picture of themselves. For each skill, students will read the description and draw a picture that reminds them of using that skill.
Teachers - There are two bookmarks per slide. Print single sided and make 2 sided copies to create bookmarks. Best if laminated afterwards.
Students will complete a cut and paste 5 Finger Retell activity that will help them remember what important parts of a story to use when they retell a story.
