I was shocked at the scores my 5th graders made on addition and subtraction problem solving. But it wasn’t that they couldn’t add or subtract. They didn’t know when to add or subtract. About the store

Experience

20+ years of teaching, mostly 4th and 5th grade. But I have also taught 3rd and 1st grades and in the BSEP program for the US Army.

Teaching style

Very eclectic. I will use every trick I can think of, including singing, dancing, and cooking to help my students learn.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was Teacher of the Year at Aberdeen (NC) Elementary School, a PAEMST nominee, and was nominatd for a Golden Apple Award and a Carolina Hurricane Outstanding Teacher nominee.

My own education history

I received a BSEd degree from Mansfield University of PA. I also hold a certificate for teaching the academically gifted.

Additional biographical information

My hobbies include reading, reading on the beach, taking care of our three dogs and 2 cats, and participating with an 18th Century Living History group.
