Close reading on Kalief Browder, a 16-year-old who spent three years in prison at Rikers Island awaiting trial. Much of the time was spent in solitary confinement. Students will annotate a text to learn about Kalief and explore the issue of mass incarceration. Students will also be required to complete small research.
