This is a group assignment about Canada's physical regions that I created using the familiar "Amazing Race Canada" gameshow. Choose only one region to review for smaller classes at a time; or choose all regions for a potential of 16 smaller groups of two for each. Each group/partner is responsible for one aspect of the overall "Game Show"1. Route Info- describes the physical region 2. Detour- two tasks/challenges based on the regions local traditions, landmarks and events 3. Pit Stop- important
Younger students always seem to read the same type of book. This past year I alternated between fiction and non fiction take home reading with my students each week. I printed the pages back to back and keep in a duotang that was checked each Monday.

This is an assignment I always like to give my students no matter what their grade. It allows them to make a presentation aloud using a book they are familiar with. I created this checklist for students and project it onto my screen in the morning. I also print off and laminate smaller desk size versions for students that need their own copy so they can check and erase each day.
This is a letter that I send home each year to learn a little more about the student and the family I will be working with throughout the year.
It is a great conversation starter and parents thank me for my proactive communication.
I also add it to survey monkey for the technology savvy
