Use the following rubric to assign a "menu math" project. Students will create their own restaurant menu and, using the rubric, include all necessary parts.

This is a quarter-long writing unit integrating writing and science standards. Students will research and write the following pieces: a 3 paragraph essay on the Mars One mission, a 5 paragraph biographical essay on a famous astronaut/astronomer, and a final 5 paragraph persuasive essay on moving to a new planet due to Earth's collapsing ecosystems. This group science project is an extension of my Space Writing Unit. Students will choose a planet and then get into groups to plan a 35-minute lesson to teach the class. Rubric included.
