Speech Therapy At-home Activities / Language Homework Packet

Hello!! My name is Avery Waters, and I am a pediatric speech language pathologist. I found that there was a gap between when my early language kiddos were being evaluated versus when they were starting speech therapy services. I found that I was constantly telling caregivers over and over again the same activities- after having informed them about speech therapy, the goals I planned on writing, and answering questions. Evaluations were turning into information overload, so I wanted to build a pa

Language Sample Checklist

Hi there!! My name is Avery and I am a speech therapist. I’ve used several different language sample checklists, but always felt they could have been organized in a different way, that they were missing something, etc. I designed this Language Sample Checklist based not only on research, but also my own experiences as a pediatric speech therapist. A language sample provides an important view of a child’s language skills; not only does it show the child’s strengths, but it shows areas that could

Speech therapy: Category naming, Naming items within categories

Categories and associations can be hard for some children. So I created a teaching tool and homework review sheet for my clients to utilize. You can teach it a few different ways! You can name the category and have the child tell you items in that category, or you can name items and have the child state the category. And of course, there are other ways to teach it too!

Speech Therapy: Synonyms and Antonyms

This resource can be adapted and used in many different ways! Use this resource how you see fit and remember to make learning fun! Synonyms are words that have the same or similar meanings. Antonyms are words that have opposite or different meanings. Teaching synonyms and antonyms is helpful for improving vocabulary,

For the first, I laminated the pages and cut the individual cards out into a deck. For the second, I laminated the whole pages and placed them in a binder. I hope you find them as useful as I did!

Speech Therapy: Speech Generating Device (SGD) Tag

My name is Avery and I am a pediatric speech language pathologist. I have many children who use AAC, specifically Speech Generating Devices. I created this tag to attach to devices since they are frequently left in backpacks, in cars, etc. In the past, I have printed these tags on cardstock and laminated them before hole punching and then securing to a device handle. I have also inserted these into luggage tags for better durability! These tags are 4 inches in height and 2.7 inches in width. If

About the store

Experience

I am a CCC-SLP. While I work in a pediatric private practice, I have had some school experience in special education pre-k classrooms. I work with children with a variety of disorders, differences, and delays. Each day, I get to make a difference in the world, one communication at a time!

Teaching style

Mainly, I use a child-led approach in speech therapy. When sessions are child-led, I find that children are more likely to be regulated, more likely to communicate, and more likely to interact with me. Even in "structured activities," there are opportunities for the child to lead.

My own education history

I earned my BSEd from the University of Georgia in 2017 and then my MA in 2023, also from the University of Georgia.

Additional biographical information

I have always been passionate about helping children (and others in general). Now as a CCC-SLP, I get to work my dream job everyday.
